Relativistic Visitors Captured

rays.gif (6586 bytes)

The tracks of several cosmic rays are shown in the difference between a small part of two hour-long exposures of our new, highly sensitive charged-coupled device camera. Cosmic rays are atomic nuclei or other elementary particles that are accelerated by the magnetic field of our Galaxy. The black spot, the four bright spots and the extended track are all evidence of intragalactic visitors which have roamed the cosmos for millions of years.
