Following a successful introductory program in the summer of 2001, MIRA has invited three new interns to spend this summer at MIRA. They will be working on computer database and data analysis projects, and will assist in the summer observing schedule at the Oliver Observing Station on Chews Ridge.
MIRA's class of 2002: from left to right, Christina Willis, Yoshi Akaha, and Christina Henderson.
A member of the Friends of MIRA for several years along with husband Gary, Leslie brings an impressive set of skills and experience to the job. One area of expertise that we hope she will not have occasion to practice at MIRA is surgical nursing, which she taught and practiced at the UC Med Center in San Francisco.
Leslie refocused her career on home schooling her and Gary's three children, along with gaining extensive ex- ecutive experience in various non-profit youth soccer organizations. MIRA's educational mission, non-profit status, and philosophy of community involvement, as well as our science mission, were very important in attracting her to the position.
We welcome Leslie to her new role in the MIRA community!
